8 Goods for Travel Health

Traveling, while fun and adventurous, can also be exhausting. Some days your energy levels are depleted and you just need rest. However, air quality, climate, altitudes, food and even insect bites (they love my blood) can affect your overall well being. Here are my go-to natural products that always save the day!

Garlic

Whenever I feel a cold coming on, I eat a whole raw clove of garlic and rest. The next day I am always back at 100%. Garlic has antibacterial nutrients to fight off viruses. Be prepared for a stinging sensation when you eat it!

Coca Leaves

These are good when you are in high altitudes. People often get sick because of the air quality in mountainous regions. Steep the leaves in water and consume as tea.

Compression Socks

Flying, long bus rides and long hikes can affect the blood pressure vessels in your legs. These can cause aching pain, swollenness, sharp pains and in extreme cases death (after flying). The socks compress your legs so your blood flows at a good rate and prevents clotting. However, you should not sleep in them overnight. You can purchase compression socks at your local pharmacy and online. Be sure to read the label instructions before wear.

Bone Broth

As an avid traveler more than likely you will walk A LOT! If you are a nature person you will hike A LOT! If you are a beach bum you will walk and surf A LOT! Bone broth helps to strengthen your bones which will give you the correct amount of nutrients to sustain your adventures. We need healthy bones to travel. Bone broth can be found in your local supermarkets. Be sure it is 100% organic.

Monolaurin

This natural herb consists of coconut and should not be consumed if allergic. Monolaurin removes bacteria from your body. Viruses, parasites, skin tags, toxins can all be removed with this vitamin. It must be taken consistently to see results. This product can be found in your local health food store and online.

Activated Charcoal

This black powdery substance has many benefits. It removes toxins, whitens teeth and even alleviates alcohol poisoning (for the many pub crawls you will experience)! It is also good for any form of addiction. It can be taken in tablet form or powder form. It works best before bed. This can be purchased at your local health food store and online.

Coconut Oil

This is a game changer! It’s all in one. You can cook with it, use it as moisturizer and natural sunscreen, perform oil pulling/ brush your teeth and use it in your hair. As a bonus it smells delicious! Make sure it is 100% unrefined. Coconut oil can be found in your local supermarket, pharmacy, health food store and online.

Apple Cider Vinegar w/ The Mother

ACV is great for gut health and balancing PH levels in your system. “The Mother” are the small particles usually at the bottom of the jar with the most nutrients. A quick shake will dissipate the clumps. It is best diluted with water, taken on an empty stomach and drunk through a straw as the acidity can affect your teeth. 100% unrefined is best. This can be found at your local supermarket and online.

Always consult your primary physician FIRST if you are taking prescription medications. Safe travels!
