The Dreamers Tour hits two New Jersey cities today. Thousands of pieces of Milano Di Rouge clothing change hands, but the real product on the table is economic lift.
Boost Legacy Impact Foundation leads community activations today in Plainfield and Camden as part of Milan Harris’ Dreamers Tour, giving away new clothing in sizes from infant to adult at no cost to residents. The Plainfield stop kicks off at 10 a.m. at the Plainfield Performing Arts Center, alongside the City of Plainfield, the Office of Mayor Adrian O. Mapp, Plainfield Public Schools and Sister 2 Sister. Camden follows at 2 p.m. at the Camden County Office of Economic Opportunity, hosted in partnership with Mayor Victor G. Carstarphen and the City of Camden. Both stops run first come, first served — organizers are telling residents to arrive early.
Both cities are set to issue proclamations recognizing the tour’s impact today, official language for what organizers describe as the opening chapter of a longer campaign.
“Giving away thousands of pieces of clothing provides an immediate benefit to families, but our vision goes much further,” said Jackie P. Taylor, founder of Boost Legacy Impact Foundation. “This is the first of many activations we intend to bring across New Jersey to create economic lift in our communities. Today, that may mean helping a family put quality clothing on their children without taking money out of their household budget. Tomorrow, it may be connecting someone to a job, helping an entrepreneur grow a business or opening a door to a new opportunity. That’s what impact looks like to us.”
Plainfield and Camden mark two of three Dreamers Tour stops BLIF is leading, and the foundation says more New Jersey activations are coming — designed to connect residents to resources, not just racks of clothing.
The tour carries the name and story of Milan Harris, founder and CEO of Milano Di Rouge, the fashion brand she grew past $100 million in sales. Harris has framed the label as a uniform for people chasing a goal that hasn’t landed yet. “We cater towards the dreamers,” she told Forbes. “If you have a dream that you’re making reality, Milano Di Rouge is for you.”
BLIF is building a pipeline, from kids first imagining a future to adults building businesses, accomplishing their goals and becoming financially liberated. Free clothing is the entry point. Jobs, entrepreneurship and mobility are the stated destination.
Boost Legacy Impact Foundation is a nonprofit founded by entrepreneur and strategist Jackie P. Taylor, built around expanding access to opportunity and capacity for individuals, entrepreneurs and communities. The foundation works across government, education, nonprofit and corporate lines, the Plainfield and Camden activations are early proof of concept.
